A Phase 2a Trial of Immune Modulation in Combination With Ultrasound-mediated Blood Brain Barrier Opening in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Glioblastoma
This study is testing a new way to help cancer-fighting medicines reach aggressive brain tumors like glioblastoma. Normally, the brain has a protective layer called the 'blood-brain barrier' that blocks many drugs; this trial uses a special device to temporarily open that barrier so the treatments can get where they are needed most.
This trial is for adults (18+) recently diagnosed with a specific type of glioblastoma who have already finished their initial radiation therapy. You must also have your tumor tissue available for testing and be stable enough to undergo the procedure.
Participants will have a small device called Sonocloud-9 implanted in their skull, which uses sound waves to safely open the blood-brain barrier. Every three weeks, you will receive immunotherapy and chemotherapy medications while the device is activated to help these drugs reach the tumor.
