ICON-RT: Intracranial Consolidation and Deferral of Radiation Therapy in Patients Receiving Approved CNS-Active Systemic Therapeutics
This study looks at the best way to treat lung cancer that has spread to the brain. It compares using a targeted medication alone versus using that medication alongside a precise form of radiation to see which approach provides the best results for patients.
You may be eligible if you are 18 or older and have non-small cell lung cancer with a specific genetic mutation called an EGFR mutation. You must have brain tumors that are currently stable and have not previously received radiation to the brain.
Participants will take a daily cancer-fighting pill and may receive targeted radiation therapy, depending on which study group they are in. You will also complete regular questionnaires so the research team can understand how the treatment affects your daily quality of life.
The study is currently recruiting patients at locations in Miami, Florida, and Basking Ridge and Middletown, New Jersey. Please check with your doctor to see if one of these centers is a good fit for your care.
