  • Oncolytic Virus Therapy: This treatment uses specially designed viruses that target and destroy cancer cells. In the aforementioned study, patients had these viruses injected directly into their tumors, followed by a treatment to boost the immune system. This approach led to a median survival time of 12.5 months, which is longer than with standard treatments.
  • CAR-T Cell Therapy: This form of immunotherapy involves modifying a patient’s T cells to better recognize and attack cancer cells, in simpler words, this therapy involves taking a patient’s immune cells, modifying them to better recognize and attack cancer cells, and then putting them back into the patient’s body. Early results from trials indicate that this therapy can lead to rapid and dramatic tumor regression in some patients. 
  • Combination Therapies: Researchers are exploring combinations of different treatment modalities, such as radiation, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy, to enhance the overall effectiveness against glioblastoma.
